Description
Welcome to St. Edmunds Eye Hospital
Founded by Dr. Edmund Abiola Akinocho, all the way back in 1965, our foremost institution once went by the name ‘Quanta Qualia’, which translates to our motto, ‘Quality, not Quantity’. We were originally located at 12 Jones Street, Ebute Metta, Lagos, and relocated to our current premises in Surulere in 1976, where our first operation was performed on the 6th of July of that same year. Shortly after its inception, the hospital was renamed to St. Edmund’s in 1978.
With five beds to care for inpatients, and a capacity to handle over 4000 outpatients annually, St. Edmund’s offers same-day ambulatory surgeries, a service where our operations are carried out and the patient is discharged within a one-day time frame. As with everything at St Edmunds, ambulatory surgeries are performed using modern equipment in line with international standards. This is why our facility has garnered such an impeccable reputation and is ranked on par with other advanced eye centers across the globe.
