Description
The Outspan Hospital started operations with the establishment of an Out Patient Department on August 7, 2001. A month later, the In Patient Department was opened with a capacity of 21 beds. Currently, the Out Patient Department has evolved into a one stop shop for all medical services expected of a national referral hospital. Despite the high cost of day to day operations and purchase and maintenance of modern medical equipment, The Outspan Hospital has retained very low rates in charges and fees. Some of the rates have never been reviewed since the facility opened its doors.
Some of these hospital charges and fees have remained constant in order for us to live by our vision of providing affordable but high quality health care. This has been achieved while we invested in sophisticated and expensive medical equipment. This is in keeping with the fast changing demands of our clients, modern technology and our status as a teaching hospital.
The Outspan prides of a Pharmacy stocked with the widest range of pharmaceuticals and non pharmaceuticals in the Mount Kenya region. A laboratory capable of undertaking highly complicated tests that can only be found available in top hospitals in Nairobi. The X ray Department is equipped with the latest Four dimensional Colour Doppler for quality ultrasonic imaging, a Mammogram Unit to enhance our capacity for breast imaging of various conditions and general survey or screening of Breast Cancer among other services. Four clinicians occupy the four consultation rooms. The Outpatient department also hosts the Dental Unit and a Maternal Child Health and Reproductive Health clinic. More than ten specialised clinics are held in a week. The Outspan Hospital can now offer the following services:

The rural setting and location of The Outspan Hospital and its modern facilities has been the endearing factor to our many loyal clients. Indeed, This was the inspiration behind the establishment of the hospital. The directors, of the Outspan Hospital had the desire to reach out to the community where they were born and brought up. It was their role in community service; answering to the needs of the community on a day to day basis.
It is not suprising then, that one of the strongest pillars of the Outspan Hospital is The Community Affairs Department. Many institutions have set aside a special day in a year and a budget to join what has become to be known as Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR), At The Outspan Hospital we live our CSR directly and every day through our Community Affairs Department.
The Community Affairs Department has staged more than 100 medical camps, open days, charitable visits and donations in the past ten years. We have directly interacted with thousands of people in different parts of the country especially in the remote areas while offering free medical services and partnering with other institutions towards improving the quality of life of vulnerable groups. This way, the community is able to access our superior medical services and high quality drugs
Despite being a private hospital, we live and operate within the community. Therefore our deliberate policy has been that no member of the community can be turned away if they are seeking medical attention at our facility. Our community participation is enriched by our policy of considering needy medical cases by discounting or waiving their medical bills all together. Our loyal clients in the community benefit from our credit card, The Pillar Card which gives them generous discounts on almost all services in the hospital. It also gives them a 30 day credit for bills incurred.
